EasyIC has just launched its 2021 Student project competition. At this time, we took the opportunity to talk to last year’s winner, Andrei Ciomag who is now a full time engineer at EasyIC.
Andrei’s winning project was the "Implementation of a system based on digital signatures in order to verify the authenticity and veracity of an image". His 1st prize in the competition was a Lenovo laptop and a summer internship in EasyIC.
Andrei has been telling us what he has been doing since he won the competition last year and how he is now working as an engineer in EasyIC. “When I won the competition, I was completing my final year of my degree in Applied Electronics. With the degrees completed, it was great to do an internship with EasyIC as I was able to get a real understanding of the work that EasyIC does in IC development. During the internship, I learned a lot about the design and verification of a System on a Chip (SoC) and how these processes go hand in hand. The mentors did a very good job in explaining and guiding us during the projects. They also managed to teach us some important principles that every engineer must know, especially regarding how important the project plan is.”

Andrei added, “Following the internship I was offered a full time position with EasyIC which I was very happy to accept. I am now working on the development of a hardware/software co-verification tool. This tool is currently being demoed to a number of large semiconductor companies as potential customers. I am really enjoying the work on the tool as I am able to develop both my hardware and software skills.
Dragos Vlad, Co-Founder of EasyIC, was one of the judges in last year’s competition and is driving the development of the co-verification tool. We asked Dragos to say some words about Andrei, “We were very impressed by the Andrei’s project last year and were pleased to bring him onboard as an Intern in EasyIC. During his internship, Andrei proved to be a fast learner and quickly adapted to the work in EasyIC. We were therefore delighted to offer him a full time position last Autumn and is now offering making a valuable contribution to our tool development.
Dragos concluded by saying, “I do hope we will have other students of Andrei’s calibre entering our competition this year!”
